History
Bob Moore Farms stands as a tribute to a Great Man and his Vision.
Robert Wells Moore was born in Casey Illinois on the 24th of April and lived there until he was 8; at that time his mom moved him and his brother Bill to McPherson Kansas. After graduating from high school he moved to Wichita where he got a job with Boeing. With his talent and leadership skills he became the youngest supervisor, at that point, to have ever worked for the aviation plant.
After WWII Bob started buying old cars and fixing them up to sell to the returning service men, he soon discovered that he could make more money on the weekends with cars than at Boeing. In the early 1950s he opened his first used car lot on South Broadway in Wichita. Speed was a way of life for him and in the early 1960s he discovered racehorses and that was another outlet for Speed. As with everything he did, research was a must. After studying pedigrees, or as he said "And studying his lessons" he got involved in horse racing. Families were what Bob built his broodmare band around, and over the course of the next 40 years, would build those families on 3 different farms. His first farm was set up in Wichita.

One of Bob's first purchases was the mare DYNA VAN from her breeder Bill Sharp. DYNA VAN became one Bob's foundation mares. From this family came Bob's first World Champion and winner of the first Champion of Champions, Mr. Jet Moore. Also from this family Bob breed runners like SIGNED TO FLY, KIN TO CASH, HEMPENS ELITE, Bug Tuff Johnny.

In 1970 Bob purchased a Cadillac Dealership in Oklahoma and moved to Norman. The second farm was located on the west side of Norman; in addition to the farm he also built a Polo field. He lived here until the town grew around him. In the late 1970's he purchased the land that is the location of the farm today. The current location sits on the south bank of the Canadian River was built as a show place for his mares, which were moved here in 1980 and 1981. The Moore Family home was complete in 1982 and family moved to the farm. He loved being able to check in on his broodmares and their offsprings. In 1984 the mare PERFECT ARRANGMENT would be the 4th generation out or DYNA VAN bred by Bob Moore. PERFECT ARRANGEMENT was a stakes winner of over $100,000 and equally as important, she was the dam of Bob's 2nd World Champion, DASHING PERFECTION. Often after watching DASHING PERFECTION run Bob would say, "He is fast, but not as fast as JET MOORE." After DASHING PERFECTION won the Texas Classic Derby in 1997 setting a track and stakes record he said, "I believe he is faster than JET MOORE."
In the summer of 1998 the stallion barn was completed and Bob's Champion, RARE FORM, was moved to the farm to be alongside the home bred FIRST SMART MONEY, a son of FIRST DOWN DASH and out of PRISSY GOLD DIGGER. PRISSY GOLD DIGGER was one of Bob's favorite mares and again from a family that has been a part of Bob Moore Farms from the beginning.

Also standing the first year was RARE KING, a son of RARE FORM out of the great EASY JET mare TELLER QUEEN.
Unfortunately, Bob succumbed to cancer in November of 1998; he was not here to see the new beginnings and success of the stallion breeding operation. His foresight, wisdom, and wit have been greatly missed.
In 1999 Bob Moore Farms purchased, SHAZOOM. SHAZOOM would sire SHINING SKY who would be named Champion 2 year old gelding for 2001. SHAZOOM is by TAKIN ON THE CASH and has ties to Bob Moore through his dam KEEP ON SHINING who is by a son of MR. BIG WHEEL who Bob bred and raced.
