History

Robert Wells Moore was born in Casey Illinois on the 24th of April and lived there until he was 8 at that time his mom and brother Bill and he moved to McPherson Kansas. After graduating from high school he moved to Wichita where he got a job with Boeing where he worked and became the youngest supervisor to have ever worked for the aviation plant to that point.

After WW11 Bob started buying old cars and fixing them up to sell to the returning service men, he soon discovered that he could make more money on the weekends with cars than at Boeing. In the early 1950s he opened his first used car lot on South Broadway in Wichita. It was in the early 60s that he discovered racehorses. Speed was a way of life for him, and Quarter Horses provided another outlet. As with every thing he did, research was a must. After studying pedigrees for a time, "And studying his lessons" he got involved in horse racing.

One of Bob's first purchases was the mare DYNA VAN from her breeder Bill Sharp. DYNA VAN became one Bob's foundation mares. From this family came Bob's first World Champion and winner of the first Champion of Champions, Mr. Jet Moore. Also from this family Bob breed runners like SIGNED TO FLY, KIN TO CASH, HEMPENS ELITE, Bug Tuff Johnny, and in 1984 the mare PERFECT ARRANGMENT would be the 4th generation out or DYNA VAN bred by Bob Moore.

PERFECT ARRANGMENT was a stakes winner of over $100,000 and equally as important, was the dam of Bob's 2nd World Champion, DASHING PERFECTION.

Often after watching DASHING PERFECTION run Bob would say, "He is fast, but not as fast as JET MOORE." After DASHING PERFECTION won the Texas Classic Derby in 1997 setting a track and stakes record he said, "I believe he is faster than JET MOORE."

Families were what Bob built his broodmare band around, and over the course of the next 40 years, would build those families on 3 different farms. The first was in Wichita, moving to Norman in 1970 when he purchased a Cadillac in Oklahoma City. In its new location on the west side of Norman he built a farm and Polo field that were there until the town grew around him. In the late 70's he purchased the land that would be the location of the farm today. The current location on the south bank of the Canadian River was built as a show place for his mares, which were moved here in 1980, and 81. In 1982 Bob and Lynn's house was completed on site and the family moved here also.

In 1998 the stallion barn was completed and Bob's Champion, RARE FORM was moved in along side his home bred FIRST SMART MONEY, a son of FIRST DOWN DASH and out of PRISSY GOLD DIGGER one of Bob's favorite mares and again from a family that has been apart of Bob Moore Farms from the beginning.

Also RARE KING, a son of RARE FORM out of the great EASY JET mare TELLER QUEEN stood for the first year. He now stands in New Mexico at the new Mountain States Equine owned and operated by husband and wife team Craig Creager and Dr. Mary Cap D.V.M. Unfortunately, Bob succumbed to cancer in November of 1998, and was not able to see the stallions move into their new home. We have missed his great foresight, wisdom, and wit.

In 1999 Bob and Lynn's oldest son Ted took over the job running the farm and polo club and one of his first purchases was SHAZOOM who would sire SHINING SKY who would be named Champion 2 year old gelding for 2001. SHAZOOM is by TAKIN ON THE CASH and has ties to Bob Moore through his dam KEEP ON SHINING who is by a son of MR. BIG WHEEL who Bob bred and raced.
